Charles Wagner Sr.
Charles L. Wagner Sr., 84, of Jefferson Township passed away Saturday in the company of his family at Allegheny Valley Hospital.
Charles was born in Freeport on Feb. 6, 1927, the son of Pearl Emma (Miersch) and Charles E. Wagner, who are deceased.
He was a union electrician at IBEW Local 5 in Pittsburgh for more than 40 years, retiring in 1984.
Charles was a member of the Armstrong Lodge 239 of the F&AM in Freeport. He enjoyed garage sales, camping, fishing and traveling with his loving wife.
He attended the Evangel Heights Assembly of God in Sarver.
Charles is survived by his wife of 27 years, Jo Ann (Bowser) Wagner; his son, Richard (Nancy) Wagner of Jefferson Township; and his daughters, Karen (James) Johnston of Winfield Township and Gail Wagner of Creighton.
He also is survived by four stepsons, Ron (Karen) Thompson of Buffalo Township, Dale (Sandy) Thompson of Summit Township, Bob Thompson of Dallas, Ga., and Bill (Kay) Thompson of Washington, Pa.; and a stepdaughter Janet Thompson of Buffalo Township.
Also surviving are his brothers, Ralph Wagner of Pocono, Pa., and Robert (Carol) Kuhn of Ford City; his sister, Betty (Ron) Freeling of Dayton, Pa.; 19 grandchildren, and 25 great-grandchildren.
Charles was preceded in death by his first wife, A. Louise (Bouch) Wagner; his son, Charles L. Wagner, Jr.; his brothers, Harold and Howard Wagner, and his sister, Peggy Wagner.
WAGNER - Family and friends of Charles L. Wagner Sr., who died Saturday, Dec. 10, 2011, will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today at the REDMOND FUNERAL HOME, 524 High St., Freeport. The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with the Rev. John Kuert officiating. Burial will be at Freeport Cemetery, Freeport.
