Dorothy Fisher Larson
Dorothy Fisher Larson, 88, of Butler passed away at 5:56 p.m. Sunday at the VNA Inpatient Hospice.
She was born Dec. 31, 1923, in Dixonville, Pa., to the late Edward Dallas Fisher and Anabel Dixon Glenn Fisher.
Mrs. Larson was a homemaker. She was a member of the North Main Street Church of God in Butler and the Sandy Lake Wesleyan Church in Sandy Lake, Pa. Mrs. Larson worked in Children's Ministries in the churches where her husband served as pastor. She was a member of the Tanglewood Senior Center and the Silver Sneakers. She enjoyed sewing, creating projects and crafts, studying the Bible, singing and playing the piano and organ.
Mrs. Larson is survived by two daughters, Dr. Lois Larson Johnson of Butler and Priscilla Welsh and her husband, Bruce, of Darlington, Pa.; four grandchildren, Charity (Johnson) Lindsey of Hampton, Va., Mark E. Johnson of Ambridge, Candice (Welsh) Young of Darlington, Pa., and Douglas Welsh of Darlington, Pa.; three great-grandchildren, Austin Young, Alivia Young and Ronin Lindsey; one sister, Sarabel Casciato of Kings Mountain, N.C.; and a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, the Rev. A. Mark Larson, who she married Aug. 28, 1946, and who passed away July 4, 2006; three brothers; and one sister.
LARSON - Friends of Dorothy Fisher Larson, who passed away Sunday, Oct. 14, 2012, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, 124 E. North St., Butler.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the North Main Street Church Of God, 1201 N. Main St. Ext., Butler, with the Rev. David Allen Larson, nephew of the deceased and pastor of the Athens Wesleyan Church in Sayre, Pa., Pastor Brandon Lenhart of the North Main Street Church of God and Pastor Richard Jenks of the Faith Fellowship Alliance Church officiating.
Burial will be in Butler County Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made to the Friends of Bethel Home (an orphanage in Kenya), P.O. Box 402, Miltonvale, KS 67466, or to the VNA Inpatient Hospice, 115 Technology Drive, Butler, PA 16001.
