Michael John Bishop
Michael John Bishop, 53, formerly of Fairview, passed away peacefully on Saturday at UPMC St. Margaret in Pittsburgh.
Michael was born on Aug. 13, 1959, the son of Clarence (Bud) and Patricia Miller Bishop Jr. of Fairview.
A graduate of Karns City High School Class of 1977, he attended Penn State University Sharon Campus for two years.
Michael was most recently employed as a head chef at Rivers Casino in Pittsburgh.
An avid sportsman, Michael enjoyed hunting, fishing and being outdoors. His greatest passion was cooking and making gourmet family dinners.
He is survived by his parents; two sons Mark (Karen) of Butler and Ryan of Butler; one daughter, Jennifer of Karns City; two sisters, Lisa (Gerald) McElroy of St. Simons Island, Ga., and Lori (Timothy) Martin of Fairview; one brother, Matthew (Gretchen) Bishop; one granddaughter, Layla Bishop of Butler; and several nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.
He is also survived by his fiancée, Catherine (Kate) Collins of Pittsburgh and her children, James and Katlyn.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, John and Lily Miller, Clarence Bishop Sr., Paul and Nellie Zavilla and his beloved Uncle Buzz.
BISHOP - There will be no visitation for Michael John Bishop, who passed away Saturday, Oct. 27, 2012.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Fairview United Presbyterian Church with Pastor Richard Rowe officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Karns City Scholastic Foundation.
Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the care of Martin Funeral Home, Inc., 429 Center Ave., Butler.
