Richard G. "Dick" Rauschenberger, 87, of Butler, and formerly of Ocala, Fla., passed away Sunday at the VNA Inpatient Hospice.
He was born May 9, 1925, in Butler, the son of the late Charles E. and Anita M. (McCandless) Rauschenberger.
Dick was a member of First United Methodist Church. He was a building contractor in Butler for 35 years. He then worked at Forest Lawn and Hiers Funeral Home in Florida and for Young Funeral Home in Butler, where he retired on April 27, 2011.
Dick is a member of F. & A.M. Lodge #272 in Butler, New Castle Consistory, Butler Caravan #14, a life member of Syria Shrine in Pittsburgh, and a life member of Elks Lodge #170, American Legion #778, and Friendship Kiwanis in Ocala, Fla.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps, having served in World War II.
Dick is survived by his wife, Georgia L. (Scott) Rauschenberger, whom he married April 23, 1964; his son, Gary (Karenlynn) Rauschenberger; two step- daughters, Patti (Mark) Donaldson and Cathy (Gary) Zarnick, all of Butler; eight grandchildren; a sister, Carol (Dick) Fennell of Sarasota, Fla.; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Dick was preceded in death by his sister, Glenys Fee.
RAUSCHENBERGER- Friends of Richard G. "Dick" Rauschenberger, who passed away Sunday, Dec. 9, 2012, will be received at YOUNG FUNERAL HOME, LTD., 127 W. Jefferson St., Butler, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday. Masonic services will be held at 5:45 p.m.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Tom Holman officiating. Military honors will follow the service, offered by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #249 and American Legion Post #778.
Interment will be in the West Sunbury Union Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to the First United Methodist Church, 200 E. North St., Butler, PA 16001
