Thomas H. Forrest
Thomas H. Forrest, 82, of Orchard Manor, where he was well cared for by the staff of the home for the past six years, formerly of West Main Street, Grove City, passed away at 7:51 a.m. Monday after a three month illness at the Grove City Medical Center.
He was born in Harrisville on June 2, 1930, to Murtagh "Murt" Leon Forrest and Margaret Elizabeth Bailey Forrest.
He married Dorothy A. Young Eaton on Aug. 30, 1968, and she passed away on Sept. 7, 2005.
He retired 1993 from Cooper Energy Services, Grove City, where he was an assembler for 38 years. Also, he worked in the roofing business in the area for many years.
He was a Protestant.
Tom was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in the Korean War. Following his military time, he enlisted in the Pennsylvania National Guard, where he served for six years.
He was a member of the American Legion Post 852, Harrisville, and the VFW Post 519, Grove City, where he served as past commander of both clubs. He was an avid Steelers fan.
He is survived by four children, Susan Ifft and her husband, John T. "Tom" of Mercer, Thomas E. Forrest and his wife, Amy, of Slippery Rock, Donna McFeaters and her husband, Richard, of Jackson Center and Tammi Barkley and her husband, Robert, of New Castle; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; one grandson, Carl Felix; three brothers, William, Neil and Jack Forrest; and one sister, Vera McGarvey.
FORREST - Visitation for Thomas H. Forrest, who died Monday, March 18, 2013, will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Cunningham Funeral Home, 306 Bessemer Ave., Grove City.
Funeral services will be at the funeral home at 11 a.m. Thursday with the Rev. Jerry Carter of the Slippery Rock Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be in Prairie Cemetery with military honors.
Memorial donations in Tom's memory may be made to any charity that supports veterans.
