Craig F. Daugherty, 68, of Butler passed away at 1:15 p.m. Tuesday at the Sunnyview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center after a long battle with Alzheimer's.
He was born Nov. 2, 1944, in Butler to the late Carl F. Daugherty and Fredericka A. (McCollough) Daugherty.
Mr. Daugherty was a member of the Hill United Presbyterian Church, where he was an elder. He graduated from Butler High School and then went on to receive his associate degree from Point Park College.
Mr. Daugherty retired from Armco on Jan. 31, 2002, after 37 years in the traffic and transportation department.
He was veteran of the Army National Guard, where he was a squad leader in the military police. Mr. Daugherty was a majority inspector for the county board of elections. He was a former member of the planning and zoning board for the City of Butler. Mr. Daugherty was a member of the Traffic and Transportation Association of the City of Pittsburgh.
Mr. Daugherty is survived by his wife, Nancy Jean (Post) Daugherty, who he married on Aug. 26, 1967; two daughters, Stacie (Daugherty) McNeish and her husband, Michael, of Butler and Susan Daugherty and her fiancee, Eric Stover, of Slippery Rock; three grandchildren, Michael L. McNeish II, Ava Jean Stover and Kelsey Stover; and a number of nieces and nephews.
DAUGHERTY - Friends of Craig F. Daugherty, who passed away Tuesday, May 7, 2013, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, 124 E. North St., Butler.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home with the Rev. Clark Sawyer of the Hill United Presbyterian Church officiating. Burial will take place in the Butler County Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Hill United Presbyterian Church, 501 Second St., Butler, PA 16001 or to the of Greater PA, Pittsburgh Office, 1100 Liberty Ave., Suite 201, Pittsburgh, PA 15222.
