S. Gilbert Obituary
He was born Feb. 3, 1923, in Port Chester, N.Y.
Mr. Gilbert was a graduate of the Valley Forge Military Academy, then went on to earn a bachelor's degree in economics at Bates College.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps, based in England and served in the European Theatre during World War II.
Mr. Gilbert worked as a marketing director with the Armstrong Group of Companies until his retirement in May 2003.
He was a member of the Butler County Amateur Radio Association, the American Radio Relay League, the National Geographic Society and the Smithsonian Institution. Mr. Gilbert enjoyed golf, reading and sports.
Mr. Gilbert is survived by two sons, Christopher Peter Gilbert of Nashville, Tenn., and Charles Stephen Gilbert of Pompano Beach, Fla.; and one daughter, Melinda Susan Gilbert of Jasper, Ala.
GILBERT - In accordance with the wishes of S. Stephen Gilbert Jr., who died Wednesday, Jan. 6, 2016, there will be no public visitation or service. Inurnment will take place at the Deer Creek Cemetery.
Arrangements are being handled by the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, 124 E. North St., Butler.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Good Samaritan Hospice, 3400 Brooktree Road, Suite 320, Wexford, PA 15090.
