HARPER, Charles "George" Percival
September 22, 1933 - February 11, 2013
It is with heavy hearts that we announce George's peaceful passing on Monday, February 11, 2013. George was born in 1933 in Selkirk, MB and then moved to Calgary in 1953. During his long and interesting life George followed three career paths: Calgary Police Officer
, Business owner and fishing expert. He finally retired October 2012. George learned a new language (Mandarin) then went on to study at the University of Harbin, China, for ten years while on sabbatical from work and fishing. Dad enjoyed a good laugh, a good glass of wine and a good football game. He will be truly missed for his wisdom, infectious smile and sense of humour. George is lovingly remembered by family and friends. He is survived by his daughter Karen (Ken) Velcic; grandsons, Quinton and Connor Velcic; and sister Barbara (Bill) Wolonchuk and their children, Shelly Summers and Milt Wolonchuk. George was predeceased by his wife of twenty-four years, Esther. Many thanks go out to Russ (Bonnie) Butler and Brad (Elaine) Butler as well as their families. Thank you all for your true and lasting friendship spanning over the past thirty-five years. A Celebration of George's Life will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY'S Chapel of the Bells (2720 Centre Street North) on Wednesday, February 20, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. Graveside Service to follow at Queen's Park Cemetery.
