Elora Allisen

ALLISEN _ Elora (nee Nora Prince) Born June 19, 1922 and passed away January 30, 2006 surrounded by her family at the age of 83 years after a very courageous battle with cancer. Elora was a native Calgarian, attended King George School and graduated from Crescent Heights High School, she served with the Royal Canadian Air Force Women's division during World War II. She spent her career in the food industry, and retired from the Holy Cross Hospital after a twenty-seven-year career in administration with the Dietetics Department. Elora was predeceased by her parents, Norman and Sarah Prince; brothers, Jack Prince and Eric Prince; sister Vera Robbins (nee Prince) and her husband Clarence "Scotty" Skelly. Elora is survived by her twin sister Lorna Blair of Chestermere; sister Margaret Schulz of Edmonton; brother Harold (Betty) Prince of Summerland, BC; daughter Sherill "Sheri" Pepe and her husband Vince of Okotoks; her son Jon "Paddy" Skelly and his wife Cheryl of Crossfield; and her ever loved, very special grandchildren who brought more joy to her life than anyone will ever know, John Pepe (Tanis), Laurel Wittwer (Brian) and Jay Skelly. Elora was also blessed with two great-grandchildren, Sean Pepe and Rio Wittwer; as well as many nieces and nephews, and her many friends, and particularly her fellow walkers in the Northland Mall walking club. Nana was always there, and never missed an important sporting or educational event, she loved watching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren doing what they loved. Elora loved wintering in Palm Springs, California with her family. Elora was a positive and gentle soul who had a smile that could light up a room. She was always there to lend a hand where needed. We love you Mom, Nana, Granny and Auntie Nynny we will miss you, cherish your memory and take strength from your courage. The family would like to extend thanks to the Calgary Health Region Transition Services, Dr. Fred Moriarty and the Dr. Vernon Fanning Centre staff, also to all the amazing health care providers at the Foothills Hospital, particularly Floors 10 and 11, and the Special Services wing, fourth floor at the Tom Baker Centre for their kindness and care. In lieu of flowers, a donation in Elora's memory may be made to the Dr. Vernon Centre (722 - 16 Avenue N.E., Calgary, AB, T2E 6V7) or the Foothills Hospital Tom Baker Cancer Centre (1331 - 29 Street N.W., Calgary, AB, T2N 4N2). A Memorial Service celebrating Elora's life will be held in the Chapel of MOUNTAIN VIEW FUNERAL HOME on Friday, February 3, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. Interment to follow in Mountain View Memorial Gardens.
