It is with much love and great sadness that we announce the passing of Elsie Kushnir, age 74. Elsie passed away suddenly while on vacation in Mexico on Sunday, April 21, 2013. Elsie was predeceased by her parents John and Elizabeth Kushnir and her brother Bill Kushnir. Elsie was born in Wayne, AB and is one of four children. She spent her adult life living in Calgary. Elsie will be remembered as a teacher, volunteer, musician, sister, auntie and friend. She shared her positive energy and her smile with everyone she met. Elsie's true passion was her family. She will be dearly missed by: sisters, Jenny Bibo of Camrose, AB and Wilma (Don) Loro of Drumheller, AB, sister-in-law Marj Kushnir of Calgary, nieces and nephews, Irene Kingsmith of Sherwood Park, AB, Betty-Ann (Bob) Greene of Bluffton, AB, John (Deena) Bibo of Camrose, AB, Lori (Peter) Forte of Calgary, AB, Ken (Mary) Kushnir of Katy, TX, Jay (Rhonda) Loro of Calgary, AB as well as many great-nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Calgary Herald Christmas Fund or the Heart and Stroke Foundation. A memorial celebration will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, May 18, 2013 at the Ukrainian Cultural Centre, 3316 - 28 Avenue S.W., Calgary, AB.
