Enid ALBINATI

ALBINATI, Enid Maxine Owens
May 9, 1927 – December 16, 2013
Passed away peacefully at the age of 86 years in Calgary. She has joined her beloved husband, Marcel, who passed away two weeks ago. They would have celebrated their sixtieth wedding anniversary later this month. She is survived by her three children: Denis, Keith, and Valerie; her nine grandchildren: Danielle, Geoffrey, Andrew, Christopher, Timothy, Nathaniel, Natalia, Evelyn and Eric; and her three great- grandchildren: Theodore, Haidyn and Mila; as well as her two step-grandchildren: Gregory and Cassandra. Enid was born in the small town of Holland in the Cypress River district of Manitoba. Her family moved to a farm in Grande Prairie. She lost her own mother at an early age and grew up alongside her sister Donna and their father, Daniel. Mom loved animals and one of her earliest pets was an orphaned moose calf that she raised as a young girl. She attended Olds College and worked in the Treasury Branch as a teller in Edmonton. Listening to the university radio station, she first heard the voice of a young French Canadian man who would host a program. He always ended his programs by saying, "Bon nuit" to his mother. She liked that and, when she met him in person, their relationship quickly blossomed. Enid and Marcel were married in December of 1953. Together, they began a family in PMQ's on bases in Winnipeg and Moose Jaw, while Marcel served in the army. Eventually they moved to Calgary. Marcel and Enid shared a love for animals and they moved their family to a small ranch west of Calgary in 1971. Enid placed being a good mother as her greatest priority. She enjoyed her children and grandchildren and loved to cook and shop for them. She had a great sense of humour and liked to have fun. Whether playing shuffleboard while on vacation or staying up half the night to play canasta, Enid was always up to enjoying a game. The family would like to thank Dr. Paul Gladman and the caregivers at Cedars Villa for their loving care of both Enid and Marcel. A Memorial Service will be celebrated at Holy Name Catholic Church (2223 - 34 Street S.W.) on Friday, December 20, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. Photos, memories and condolences may be shared with the family through www.evanjstrong.com.
