Ethel Amidon

AMIDON, Ethel May May 5, 1919 - May 11, 2011 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend, Ethel May Amidon. Ethel was born May 5, 1919 in Botrell, Alberta and she passed away on May 11, 2011 at the age of 92 years, six days. She was the sixth child born to Abraham and Sarah Postlethwaite. On June 26, 1941, she married Raymond Amidon. They were married for sixty-eight years until Raymond passed away on March 23, 2010. Ethel enjoyed reading, knitting, crocheting, doing puzzles, gardening and helping on the farm. Raymond and Ethel lived on the farm until June 24, 2004 when they moved into Big Hill Lodge in Cochrane. In 2010, Ethel broke her hip and moved to Didsbury. Ethel is predeceased by her parents Abraham and Sarah Postlethwaite; husband Raymond; brothers Bill, John, Ike and Jim; sisters Alice, Edith, Mary and Emily; grandson Marlon Finkewich. Ethel is survived by daughter Laura-Mae Mitchler (Edwin) and son Duane Amidon (Keryle); her four grandchildren Fae Cisyk (Darryl), Jolene, Avery (Ken), Glenda Finkewich (partner Dave Mashtoler) and Tysson Amidon (Martha); and her eight great-grandchildren Caitlin, Bryce, Madison, Jayden, Derek, Devon, Ryan and Luke. Ethel is also survived by her sister Dorothy Patterson; brother Sid Postlethwaite (Jean); sister-in-law Rita Postlthwaite and many nieces and nephews.
