Passed away after a brief illness. Frances Ferdi Wiethold and her twin sister Ferdi Frances were born in Schuttorf, Germany and arrived in Canada in 1923 with their sisters and mother to join their father and elder brother in the Peace River district of Alberta. Frances grew up on a homestead, rode to the district school on horseback and attended high school in Peace River, graduating in 1939. She attended business school in Edmonton and worked as a secretary to the Grey Nuns at Edmonton General Hospital. She then took a position with the Dept. of Lands and Forests in Lac La Biche, Alberta where she met and married Johnny Booker. After a varied career with the Provincial civil service in Lac La Biche, the Crowsnest Pass and Calgary, Frances retired to spend many happy years with Johnny wintering in Arizona and summering in Calgary. She devoted herself to her children and grandchildren and to her bridge and scrabble clubs (top single word score, 173 points at age 90!). She was a proud Canadian citizen, a loyal participant in Seniors Aquacize and an avid reader. Frances was predeceased by all of her siblings and by Johnny in 2004. She is survived by her children Deloris, Patricia, Douglas (Pam), Lorette and Robert (Anne), grandchildren Sarah, Elizabeth, Emily and Juliet, and step- grandchildren Tylor, Davin, Brea-Ann and Brittney and seven step-great-grandchildren.
