BELL, George Ernest
1926 - 2013
George Ernest Bell passed away peacefully at his home in Calgary on Saturday, February 16, 2013, at the age of 86. Lovingly remembered by his three children; Robert (Vivian), Marjorie (Dwayne), and Patricia (Jim). He also leaves seven grandchildren and one great-grandson. George was predeceased by his wife Violet in 2005 and twin brother Samuel in 1927. George was born in Medicine Hat and raised in Hazlet, SK. George met and married Violet in Calgary in 1945. He enlisted in the RCAF in 1944 and retired as a Captain in 1975. Many family years were spent in MB at Rivers, Portage la Prairie, and Winnipeg. After retirement George worked for the Calgary YMCA. George loved automobiles and music, collected model cars and sold used cars for Portage Garage in the 1960s. For the past ten years, George lived at Wentworth Manor and often played his CDs for the residents and staff. He was a generous man who enjoyed sports. He and Vi played a mentorship role with many young people. His three children feel blessed to have had such positive role models as parents. At his request there will be no service. George will be interred in the Hazlet Community Cemetery next to Vi and his father, Samuel.
