Harkie BOYES

BOYES, James Harken "Harkie"
April 6, 1925 - November 3, 2012
Born in Pincher Creek, Alberta to Miles and Clair, the eldest of three children. Predeceased by his brother Miles in childhood and sister Sheila in 2001. Harkie joined the RCAF as a radio operator during WWII and continued in the Service until receiving a medical discharge in 1949. Married Lois Seright in 1950 and had four children, Louise, Donna, Miles and Phil. Predeceased by Lois in 1994 and his second wife, Betty in 2009. Dad loved laughter - both causing it and indulging in it himself. He also loved to travel - especially the side roads. Harkie was a curious man, always interested in other people's lives and their stories. In 2009 he left Calgary for the west coast, moving to White Rock with his daughter, Donna, joining his son Miles. Unfortunately Dad suffered a mentally debilitating stroke shortly after arriving in White Rock. But his sense of humour never left him and right up to the end he enjoyed making people laugh. Many "angels of mercy" surrounded Harkie throughout his last years, first at the Bethany Lodge in Calgary and then at Crescent Gardens in White Rock and his two special Helens. Thank you for your love and care for Dad.
