THORESON, Harvey (Bud) Oscar
January 20, 1927 - January 9, 2013
Harvey (Bud) Oscar Thoreson passed away peacefully surrounded by his beloved family; wife Charleen and daughters Lisa and Kristine, on Wednesday, January 9, 2013 at the age of 85 years. Bud was the third of four children born in Cabri, Saskatchewan. After finishing high school he attended Moose Jaw Technical School before setting off for adventure on his motorcycle. He worked and travelled in Kelowna, Spokane, L.A. and Vancouver before settling in Calgary. While in Calgary, Bud met and married Charleen, and they had two loving daughters Lisa and Kristine. He took great pride in building his own home on an acreage North West of Calgary. Bud was a man of many talents. He worked as a body man, owned and operated a service station, worked in real estate, and owned and operated a drive-in restaurant. He took pleasure in and excelled at restoring antique vehicles, gramophones, and other antiques. Some of the cars Bud restored can be admired at the Gasoline Alley Museum in Heritage Park. Bud was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting, travelling and hiking with his family. He loved to ride his Suzuki trail bike, go boating and play his saxophone. His greatest passion was his family. Bud is survived by his wife Charleen (nee Long); daughters Lisa and Kristine; daughter Cindy from a previous marriage; and brother Roy. He is predeceased by his parents Oscar and Josephine; brother Gordon; and sister Eileen. Funeral Service will be celebrated at St. Luke's Catholic Church (corner of Northmount Drive and Northland Drive N.W.) on Wednesday, January 16, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. Graveside Service to follow at Eden Brook Memorial Gardens.
