ANDERSON, Alexander "Patrick" Beaumont
March 31, 1923 - March 25, 2013
Alexander Patrick Beaumont Anderson passed away suddenly at home in Calgary on Monday, March 25, 2013. Born in Ottawa on March 31, 1923, Pat graduated from Queen's University with a chemical engineering degree after serving overseas as a navigator with the 410 Cougar Squadron during WWII. He worked for Shell Canada for twenty-three years across Canada, eventually settling i n Winnipeg, where he shone at a second career as an outstanding representative with the Canadian Federation of Independent Business until his retirement in January 1994. Pat had many and varied interests throughout his life. He was very community minded, actively involved with the 410 Squadron Association, the Air Crew Association of Southern Alberta, and serving on constituency organizations for the Progressive Conservative Party in Manitoba and Alberta. The last few years he was active with the Calgary Mosquito Society. Pat is survived by Elizabeth (nee Knubley), his wife of sixty plus years; his children, Lynn (Norm) Ferguson, Carol (Dennis) Nault, Richard Anderson (Linda Comeau), Anne Bastedo (Rick Lane); and by his grandchildren, Patricia, Caitlin, David, Lindsay and Kathleen; his great-grandchildren, Holly and Felix; his two brothers-in-law Jim (Olive) Knubley and Randall Phillips; and by numerous nephews, nieces and their families. He was the last surviving member of his generation. He will be remembered as a socially charming man with strong opinions about just about everything you would care to discuss. A celebration of Pat's life will be held for family members on Saturday, April 13, 2013. As per his final wishes, Pat will be cremated and interred at Eden Brook Memorial Gardens (17 Avenue S.W. and Lower Springbank Road).
