HODGINS, (Peachie) Mabel Louise
October 13, 1925 - March 4, 2013
Peachie passed peacefully on, Monday, March 4, 2013 after a short illness at the Peter Lougheed Hospital. She will be lovingly remembered by her daughter Michele, family and friends. She was predeceased by her son Randy (1967), her husband Wilfred (Jim) James (1991) and other family. Peachie was born in Medicine Hat, Alberta and had a wonderful childhood on the farm with her mother, father, brothers and sisters. She married Jim in 1946. She loved being a homemaker and mother. Later in life she worked at a Lady's Boutique in Calgary for her daughter Michele. Peachie enjoyed the traveling and buying that was associated with the store, but most of all loved being with all the customers. As Jim retired they shared the love of buying and selling antiques and collectables. Peachie and Jim also enjoyed travelling and meeting new friends. Peachie was strong, independent and really did enjoy life. She had a huge heart and good sense of humor. One of her greatest accomplishments was in 2009 when she wrote her memories by hand and then gave them to her daughter Michele the following year for Christmas. Retiring into Manor Villages, and then a move to the StayWell Manor (Assisted Living), she felt loved and cared for. Michele and Peachie together want to thank StayWell Manor and staff for creating a home to live with dignity. Michele would also like to thank the staff at Unit 44 of the Peter Lougheed Hospital and Dr. Sharma for all their compassion and care that they warm heartedly gave to Peachie. A Celebration of Peachie's Life will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY'S Park Memorial Chapel (5008 Elbow Drive S.W., Calgary, AB) on Tuesday, March 12, 2013 at 2:30 p.m. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com
. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Salvation Army or Unit 44 of the Peter Lougheed Hospital. In living memory of Peachie Hodgins, a tree will be planted at Big Hill Springs Park, Cochrane.
