Surrounded by family, it is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Gord after a courageous battle with cancer. Gord was born and raised in Winnipeg, spent time in Vancouver and settled in Calgary. He is survived by his loving wife Jan, son Mike (Kendra, grandchildren Owen and Olivia), son Chris (Kathryn), sister Susan Swaak (Jan), niece Natalie (Jason, children Arianna and Jan), niece Karolien (Serdar, daughter Kayra) and sister-in-law Linda Horiuchi. Predeceased by parents Fran and Bill Rodway and in-laws, Bonnie and Jim Horiuchi. Gord's passion and excellent work ethic led him through a career in sales, management and construction. He also demonstrated his commitment to his community through his tireless work with the Calgary Celtics and Calgary Caledonian Soccer Club achieving several national championships. Gord was an avid billiards player and shared a love for socializing with his family and friends. Special thanks to all the doctors and staff at the South Calgary Health Campus in the Rapid Access Unit and Unit 66 as well as Unit 47 at the Foothills Hospital. In lieu of flowers, donations are being accepted in Gord's memory by the Alberta Cancer Foundation for the Lung Cancer Screening Research Project. Jan and Family,
Gord was such a great guy and good friend to our family. I have so many memories of fun times spent with him and my Dad, while camping and at family events. He was like an Uncle to my sister and I, and was always helping us with projects - most recently helping build my deck.
Our thoughts are with you guys.
