It is with great sadness that the family of the late Fredrick George Whitley announce his passing on October 12, 2017 at the age of 90. Fred leaves to mourn his wife Peggy of 59 years; his daughters, Alison (Howard), Janice (Dave) and Laurie (John); and granddaughters Nicole, Tehya and Carrie. Fred was born on July 26, 1927 in Lomond, AB, son of George William Whitley and Alice Augustus Whitley (nee Fogdon). He was an accountant who loved acting and being involved in his community. Fred was also an avid square dancer and danced with his wife Peggy as the world watched the Opening Ceremony of the 1988 Olympics in Calgary. At Fred's request, cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life will take place at St. Matthew's United Church (2039 - 26A Street S.W.) on Saturday, October 28 at 1:00 p.m. As expressions of sympathy, and in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Prostate Cancer Canada or St. Matthew's United Church. The family wishes to thank the staff at Wentworth Manor for all their love and care. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. In living memory of Fred Whitley, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park.
