IN REMEMBRANCE
I write this in remembrance of my teacher Joanne Rauch. Joanne was my teacher from the Edmonton Academy. During the school year we would exchange journals and letters throughout the summer months. Throughout the years she became one of my closest friends. We exchanged e mails, and I was able to visit her in Calgary when she moved away. Joanne and I were a support to each other. We could lean on each other for whatever either of us needed. She was a confident, a friend. During these times I was able to confide in her with the most intimate details in my life. Joanne and I shared a passion for dogs and horses, and she has encouraged me to follow my dream of working with animals. I learned so many valuable life lessons from her that I will continue to cherish throughout my life. I know that Joanne will be missed immensely by the many lives that she has touched, including mine. She is in a better place with no more suffering, and for that I can be thankful. Thank you Joanne for all you have taught and for everything that you were as a person as a teacher and a friend. You will never be forgotten and will always be close to my heart.
With much love from your student and friend,
Andrea Lammerink

I've just learned through an old school friend of Jo's passing. She was a beautiful, giving sole. The years I spent with her as my teacher changed my life. I wish I could have shared with her what an impact she had on my life. I am so sorry for your loss. She will be forever in my heart.

Sympathies go out to all of Jo's family. She was often in my thoughts from the times shared teaching in Edmonton. I take away much knowledge from the years we shared a classroom and students. Her expertise lives on in those she shared her love and knowledge of teaching. May she rest in peace and all the extraordinary moments and memories you created with her comfort you in your times of need. Bless you all!

Dear Francey, Janie, and Maureen,
I am very sorry to hear of Jo's sudden passing. Jo was extremely kind, had a wonderful sense of humour and so much style! Her family, her friends and her pets were always the centre of her love.

Sister Susan emailed the sad news to me on Saturday. Joanne was the little sister in the Rauch line up that of course included Mom and Dad, and the girls. Massey Place was a wonderful place to grow up and you were all such a part of that. Maureen, Janie and Francey, I am so sad for you. After reading about Joanne's life, you must be very proud of the "little" sister.
Much love,
Mark

Joanne was the nicest neighbour one could find on Amiens Crescent. It seemed that walking her pets was the occasion to reach out, share and support all who met her.
I believe and pray that from where she now lives, Heaven, she might interfere for us whom she knew.
I write this in the name of next door or close neighbours: Janine and husband, Anne and daughters;Lynn; young Mabel, baby sister, Rolly & Kerrie and myself. God bless and support her dear sisters and loved ones in this time of sorrow.

I will always remember Jo for her incredible loyalty and love for her sisters and their respective families.... never was there a more loyal sister, aunt, sister-in-law to be found.
I cherish the memories I hold of our pilgrimage to Medjugore with sister Janie and Monica, Justin, Sarah and myself. Jo loved the medal of Our Lady that she found and wore from this trip.
Jo embodied such beautiful characteristics of generosity, kindness, deep compassion and empathy along with her wonderful sense of humour.
My thoughts and prayers are with all of her family at this time of deep loss.

When I worked with Joanne at Central Memorial High School I so appreciated her quirky sense of humour, her amazing wardrobe, her huge heart and the kindness she exuded from every pore. She was such an amazing advocate for students and left an indelible mark on the CBE.

Joanne was such a kind and funny person. She was a comfort to me when both our sisters had breast cancer. Recently she got in touch when she heard of my other sister's death. I know this is a huge loss for her family. Rest in peace, dear Joanne. You are in my prayers.

Shocked and saddened. For years the intention was to get back to Calgary and give wee Jo, my old girlfriend, a hug. But life teaches again: don't wait. Love to the Rauch girls - Jo's got a permanent place in my heart.
