John Haynes Obituary

HAYNES _ John Gordon June 22, 1918 - December 24, 2004 Gordon Haynes passed away suddenly on Friday, December 24, 2004 at the Foothills Medical Centre at the age of 86 years. Gordon is survived by his longtime companion of fourteen years, Pamela Knowles; as well as four children and their families, Stuart William, Gordon Frederick, Howard Michael and Susan Joy (Maxwell). He also had nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Gordon had two sisters, Eunice Mable Mayhew who is deceased and Audrey Eileen Holgate who presently lives in Edmonton. He was an aeronautical engineer in the Royal Canadian Air Force prior to his longtime career with the Canadian Pacific Railroad. Gordon won the Canadian Curling Brier two consecutive years in 1957 and 1958 and was also a four time Alberta Champion. He had a keen interest in sports and enjoyed his athletic career of curling with such great names as Matt Baldwin, where they are presently featured in the Canadian and Alberta Sports Hall of Fame. Since retirement, Gordon, has lived in Calgary and enjoyed his many friends and family. Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at FIRST MEMORIAL FUNERAL SERVICES (240 - 17 Avenue S.W.) on Wednesday, December 29, 2004 from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at First Memorial Funeral Services (240 - 17 Avenue S.W.) on Thursday, December 30, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. If friends so desire, donations in John's memory may be made directly to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Alberta, 1825 Park Road S.E., Calgary, Alberta T2G 3Y6 www.heartandstroke.ca.
