He married Margaret Nissen on December 10, 1953 in Storthoaks and they settled on a farm there to raise their three children. Al was a successful man who started his career in the oil patch as a roughneck and worked his way up the ranks to become a field supervisor in Saskatchewan and Alberta retiring in 1989 after 32 years with Placid Oil Company. Al's talent for building things was evident in the many projects he undertook for his home, family and friends. Al took great pride in his yard and enjoyed woodworking and travelling extensively in the United States with Margaret. He loved spending time with family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Al leaves to mourn his wife of 58 years, Margaret; three children, Corinne (Andy) Martel, Beverley (Harry Enevoldson) and Blaine (Rose Warnock); nine grandchildren and seven great- grandchildren; three sisters, one brother and numerous nieces and nephews. A Private Family Liturgy will be held at St. Peter's Roman Catholic Church. Repose of cremains to follow at Sacred Heart Church Columbarium. Please forward condolences through www.hffs.com. If friends so desire, memorial tributes in lieu of flowers, may be made directly to a charity of your choice.
