Annesley Kingsford Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Apr. 4 to Apr. 7, 2006.
KINGSFORD _ Annesley Douglas Annesley Douglas Kingsford passed away April 1, 2006 at 93 years of age. He was born in Dublin, Ireland on July 30, 1912. Papa, as he was known, was educated in England at Uppingham School and Cambridge University, where he rowed for Pembroke College and later for Great Britain in the 1936 Berlin Olympic Games. After serving in the Royal Navy World War II, he immigrated to Canada with his wife, Mary Ardern, who predeceased him in 1987. Doug was involved, very successfully, in the oil business for the next forty years in Calgary, Alberta. During this time, he also acquired the OH Ranch located near Longview. He lived a very full life and was a world traveler until his last few months. He will be dearly missed by all his family and fondly remembered by his friends as a sportsman and by his lady-friends as a true gentleman. He passed away peacefully in Qualicum Beach, British Columbia surrounded by his family. A "Wake" was held in Calgary, Alberta on Thursday, April 6, 2006 at the Calgary Golf & Country Club starting at 2:00 p.m. All who knew him are welcome. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Nature Trust of British Columbia through their website at www.naturetrust.bc.ca or send to via cheque: 260, 1000 Roosevelt Crescent, North Vancouver, BC, V7P 3R4.

Rest in peace my friend, you were truly one of the finest individuals

we were most fortunate to have known. An outstanding gentleman, a really good guy. God bless you.

I remember Doug as a man who inspired those around him, and especially his children to be curious about life, love nature, embrace new experiences, and do so with a wicked sense of humour.
