Augusta Anna Van de Pol of Calgary, passed away peacefully at Brentwood Nursing Home on Monday, December 23, 2013 at the age of 88 years. Augusta was born on March 10, 1925 in Tilburg, Holland. She and her husband John immigrated to Winnipeg, Manitoba in 1954 and then moved to Calgary with their young family in 1961. Augusta was a proud mother and talented seamstress. She kept a beautiful home which was always open to family and friends. A rewarding retirement with John included extensive travel and socializing with friends. Augusta is survived by her daughter Fran (Ralph) and their children, Patti (John) and Bob (Taunya); sons John (Peggy) and Robert (Linda); grandchildren Kayley (Derek), Sean and Corissa. She is also survived by relatives in British Columbia, Holland, and Belgium including her sister Toos Starckx-Brekelmans, sisters-in-law, Monica Brekelmans, and Annie Blaauwgeers. She was predeceased by her loving husband Johannes "John" in 2008, her son Vincent in 1993 as well as a sister, Anne de Jong and brother, John Brekelmans. Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers and Tributes at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY'S Fish Creek Chapel (14441 Bannister Road S.E.) on Sunday, December 29, 2013 at 3:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Cecilia's Catholic Church (321 - 90 Avenue S.E.) on Monday, December 30, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. The family would like to thank the staff at Brentwood Nursing Home for their care and to Augusta's companion Mary who provided hours of comfort and discussion for her in her later years. In living memory of Augusta Van de Pol, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park.
