SELIG, Beatrice
April 24, 1931 - December 22, 2012
Beatrice (Bea) Evelyn Selig passed away suddenly December 22, 2012 at the age of 81, where her undying commitment and partnership to her beloved Ernie surpassed all physical needs and concerns. She left this world the way she lead the majority of her life - "her way"; departing two months to the day from her husband's passing. She began her life in Beach Meadows, Nova Scotia, the eldest daughter of ten children, and never stopped managing the activities of a busy household. Once married, she moved miles away from her home province, settling in Calgary, Alberta where she raised her children and managed the home for the better part of fifty years. Bea was predeceased by her husband of sixty-three years Ernie; is survived by her children: Debbie, Val (Garry), Glenn, Heather; grandchildren: Scott (Jamie), Breanne (Dave), Curtis (Adelle), Tyler (Lynette), Milan, Liam, Manisha, Jackson; great-grandchildren: Leah, Nathan, Claire, Kobe; and numerous friends and relatives. After retirement, and with the kids out of the nest, Bea joined the Greater Forest Lawn Seniors Centre, which soon became her passion, as she lead a dedicated group of volunteers creating the menu and preparing delicious meals for the popular Wednesday lunch crowd. Her butter tarts and meat pies over the years took on legendary status. Through the years when the kids where young she enjoyed sewing, knitting, crochet, quilting along with being a keen canasta card player well into her retirement. Although a proud Calgarian, she always enjoyed her many trips back to the south shore of Nova Scotia. Please join the family and friends for a Memorial Fellowship Tea to be held on Saturday, January 5, 2013, at 2:00 p.m. at Mountain View Funeral Home. Expressions of sympathy may be forwarded to the family via the website If so desired, memorial tributes may be made directly to The Greater Forest Lawn Seniors (3425 - 26 Avenue S.E., Calgary, AB T2B 2P2).
