It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Dr. Mrs. Bessie Paes (nee Brooks), beloved wife of the late Mr. Romaldo Paes at the age of 93 years. Born on April 29, 1919 in Lucknow, India, Bessie passed away peacefully in Calgary on July 26, 2012. Her strength and determination will be remembered and missed by her five children, Yvonne (Mathew Paes), Delphine (Giles Hayes), Rex (Shernett Chisholm), Matilda (Christopher Rocha) and Rudolph (Karyn DeSouza). She is also survived by her 15 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren - "We love you Double Granny ...". Bessie developed herself both personally and professionally through teaching college science, working as a health inspector and operationally overseeing the workings of the Red Cross in Karachi.
