We are devastated to announce the unexpected peaceful passing of our beloved Brandon Henry Flock on Sunday, June 10, 2012 at the tender age of 26. Born in Calgary, an MFA graduate from schools in Los Angeles and Vancouver and an alumnus of Rundle College and Western Canada High School, Brandon touched so many people in his life. From the minute you met Brandon he made you feel special, and you instantly liked him. He was the friend who had your back. Brandon had incredible spirit; he skied, played hockey, baseball, golf, and everything else. He raced camels around the Pyramids of Egypt on a Nile Cruise, ran with the bulls in Spain, celebrated New Year's Eve at the Sydney Opera House, Scuba-dove in the Great Barrier Reef and Red Sea, touched Stonehenge. Just this past month he visited the Taj Mahal, he partied at Coachella and trekked to Mt. Everest Base Camp - where he was blessed by the Guru Rinpoche Lama in Nepal. He summited Kilimanjaro, went on a Serengeti safari and visited the beaches of Zanzibar. He was a skydiver, bungee jumper, skateboarder, surfer, kite surfer, and mountain biker. Brandon indoor skied in Dubai, elephant trekked in Thailand and got drenched at the Songkran festival of water. He was at two Olympics and attended Canada's 2010 Gold Medal win. He was a certified ski instructor, ski racer and cat skier. He was a licensed Card Dealer and Bridge player. Brandon loved the Glencoe Club, swimming, men's tennis league, and pool in the corner pocket. He also worked at the Glencoe making many friends. What did this man not do? He shaved his head for Cancer raising a record amount in Canada; he helped build a memorial school in Uganda for his predeceased "Uncle" Rick. Brandon was the heart of an extremely close family and he was proud to share his family with his friends, which he did many times with warmth, love, laughter, good food and music to dance to. Thirty-three people attended his 21st birthday party in Las Vegas. Brandon stood out from a young age with his amazing smile and infectious gregarious personality. Brandon never lost sight of his blessed situation and that others may not be as fortunate. He connected and touched so many people with his compassion and kindness, never judgmental, hurtful or unkind. Brandon loved the Calgary Stampede, never missing it even when he lived abroad. Actor and Entertainer, he shined on stage and was passionate for Film and the Arts. He became an entrepreneur launching his own company which empowered his creative side. Brando, as many called him, is survived by his most loving mother Dena and his adventurer friend and father Brad; his grandmothers, Betty Flock and Daisy Young; many aunts, uncles and cousins in Calgary and Alberta; his four surrogate siblings, Kirk and Corey Hunn and Kendra and Morgan Flock. A special thank you to his lifelong friend Jonah Joffe and his friend and roommate Mike Monachello. Brandon was predeceased by his Grandpas, George Flock and Les Young. Brandon's family would like to thank all those who touched his life and for the outpouring of support. A celebration of Brandon's life will take place at the First Assembly Church (6031 Elbow Drive S.W.) on Saturday, June 16, 2012 at 4:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Brandon Flock Foundation for the Arts and mailed to 4411 Coronation Drive S.W., Calgary, AB T2S 1M3.
