Clarice CHRISTIE Obituary

Published by Calgary Herald on Apr. 3, 2012.
CHRISTIE, (QUANCE) Clarice
Our mother Clarice Christie passed away on April 1 with family by her side. She was born to James and Maud Quance on March 1, 1921 in Calgary. She grew up on the family farm in the Bay Coulee area with sisters May and Min and brothers Fred, Charlie and William (who passed away in infancy). During the war, she and her sisters farmed with their parents. When the boys returned home, she and Min took dressmaking training at SAIT. Mom married our dad Bob Christie in July 1950. They settled in Three Hills and raised their nine children, Robert (Janice), Nancy (John), Marilyn, Bill (Brenda), Cathy (Rich), Diane (Rod), David (Shirley), Cindy, and Tom (Tracy). Mom enjoyed her family, now 46 strong, including 17 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Her legacy of love has touched every member of our family. Together our parents have passed on the strength of a close family and these values have been embraced by our children and their children. She lives on in the loving memories of those she leaves behind. She is survived by brother Charlie (Betty), sister-in- law Beryl, brother-in-law Gordon Nikolaus and their families, and sister Min's family. Mom also leaves behind Dad's brothers Jim (Doris), Jack (Lynne), Tom (Phyllis), brother- in-law Clayton Richardson and their families, and sister Nan's family. A celebration of Mom's life will be held Thursday, April 5 at 2:00 p.m. at Knox United Church in Three Hills with lunch following at the Three Hills Community Centre. Please consider donating to Three Hills Continuing Care or Canadian Diabetes Association in lieu of flowers. KNEEHILL FUNERAL SERVICES LTD., Three Hills, entrusted with arrangements. Telephone: 1-403-443-5111.

Bill & Brenda and family: Our sincere sympathies to you, in the passing of your mom. I remember Clarice as a very cheerful lady who was very involved with the people and things around her--a vibrant lady, whose presence will be missed.

We are so sorry to hear about Auntie Clarice and our thoughts and prayers are with the entire family. Clarice was simply an amazing woman who raised a fantastic family of Christies! It never ceased to amaze me at how she could multitask when preparing a meal for a houseful of people while carrying on a conversation with everyone and yet in that huge house with all that activity know if someone was doing something they shouldn't be. Simply amazing! We love you and will miss you Auntie Clarice.

Love Ken and Janice
