VANDERVEEN, Connor David
July 11, 1996 - October 10, 2011
Jesus said "Let the children come to me
for to them belongs the kingdom of heaven".
On October 10, 2011 at 5:40 p.m., Jesus took Connor by the hand and led him to eternal glory. Connor was much loved by his parents Jerry and Geraldine and his amazing siblings Kaitlin, Kyle (Jill) and Lauren. He also leaves behind his Grandpa and Grandma, Gerben and Charlene Vanderveen and Opa and Oma, Peter and Teena Oudman, Super Oma Oudman, as well as many loving aunts, uncles and cousins. Connor may have had a broken body, but God gave to him a special spirit. He was well known for his beautiful red hair and blue eyes and infectious giggle, as well as his "go away", "too big" and so many many Connorisms, that will give us life-lasting memories. We will have a time of celebrating his life at Emmanuel Christian Reformed Church (3020 - 51 Street S.W.) on Thursday, October 13, 2011 at 7:00 p.m. Photos, memories and condolences may be shared with Connor's family through www.evanjstrong.com . We ask that you not send flowers but honour Connor's memory instead by making a donation to CASA Connor, an organization created in his honour ( www.casaconnor.org ). A huge thank-you to Doctors Casey, Blackwood, Bross, the PICU team and nurses on Unit 3 at the Children's Hospital, the AMAZING staff at the Rotary Flames House and Emily Follensbee School and all our family and friends. Dance, run and quad, free of pain! Arrangements in care of EVAN J. STRONG FUNERAL SERVICES. Telephone: 403-265-1199.

Laurel always loved to watch and smile at Connor on our Tuesday morning swim days. He was so patient when she reached out for him, keeping a discerning eye on her. Connor was a wonderful young man and we feel so blessed to have known him. Our thoughts and prayers go out to your family.

I am going to miss Connor a lot.I remember the first day I met Connor. He was in Doreens room.It was my first week at the school and working for AHS.I went into Doreens room to heat up my lunch in the microwave. When I came back out to go back to the nurses room to eat my lunch,Connor hit me in the stomach. At the time I thought he was aggressive.Later I found out that the hit was a love tap. From then on I always put my arm around him every time I seen hime in the hallway walking with EA's.In the am every day i would go into Joi's room to help another little boy,I would give Connor a kiss on the forehead and say "I Love You".He would alaways laugh when I would say "To Big To Big"He will be missed. But he is free running with the Angels in Heaven and having a great time.He will watch over us and he will never be forgotten..Love Pat Norris

Connor most certainly was a gift from God and it is with mixed emotions that all will greive God taking him home. His spirit will be remembered by many who knew and loved him. Through our tears we can find peace knowing the pain has left his body and he is running, dancing and singing in our heavenly kingdom.

It was an honour to know Connor. He brought joy and love to The Rotary Flames House. We thank you from our hearts for allowing us to come into Connor's life.
I was happy to visit with Connor in ICU before his passing. Holding his hand, giving him a kiss on his forehead, gave me peace.
When Teena came and wrapped her arms around me, I felt blessed to know each and every one of you.
Thank you...hugs ........Rotary Flames House.
