GISLASON, John Donald "Don"
September 17, 1929 - April 25, 2013
It is with great love and sadness that we announce the passing of our husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Don Gislason, at the age of 83 years. Don passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 25, 2013 surrounded by his loving wife and daughters. Don is survived by his wife of 57 years, Sharon (nee Berridge), children Timothy Gislason, Shawna Lee Garstad, Dawna (Wayne) Scrivens, Patti Perkins, Jody (Jim) Broadhead, and Jacqui (Anthony) Lambert, fifteen grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, and one great-great- grandchild as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Don was known as a kind and gentle man with a heart of gold. He was a great storyteller, with a dry sense of humour and a coloured past. Don was quick witted, always ready with a zinger comeback and an arsenal of "blue" phrases. Known as a jack of all trades, he could fix anything and was forever inventing another new gadget. His family was the most important thing in his life and his time spent with them was highly cherished. Don touched more people than he ever realized and he will be missed by all. A Celebration of Life will be held at FOSTER'S GARDEN CHAPEL, 3220 – 4 Street N.W., Calgary (across from Queen's Park Cemetery) on Friday, May 3, 2013 at 3:00 p.m. Expressions of sympathy may be forwarded to the family via the website www.fostersgardenchapel.ca. FOSTER'S GARDEN CHAPEL FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORIUM. Telephone: 403-297-0888. Honoured Provider of Dignity Memorial.
