It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle. He was taken from us at the age of 74 years due to complications from pneumonia and heart disease. Don was born in Rosedale, AB to parents RoseAnne Harvey (Milk River, AB) and Anton Sladek (Prague, Czechoslovakia). He attended school in Drumheller until he joined the RCAF in 1951. With his extensive travel across the country with "2 Construction Maintenance Unit based in Calgary", he met his wife in Ottawa. In 1960 he was sent to 2 Wing RCAF Station, Grostenquin, France where they were married and resided for four years. They were repatriated in 1964 and sent to Edmonton where they raised their family until their move to Calgary in 1992. Don is survived by his wife and soul-mate Denise of fifty years; three dearly loved sons, Marc (Cyndy) of Vancouver, BC, Don (Colleen) and Bob (Ellen) both of Calgary; one special daughter Lisa Marie of Calgary; beautiful grandchildren, Tasha, Donovan, Caitlyn, Jenna, Shelley and Shaeleen; his sister Audrey Loro; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Memorial Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY'S Fish Creek Chapel (14441 Bannister Road S.E.) on Friday, June 15, 2012 at 2:30 p.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Alberta, 200, 119 – 14 Street N.W., Calgary, AB T2N 1Z6 (Telephone 403-264-5549, www.heartandstroke.ca). The family extends their thanks to EMS, Calgary Police and the staff at the Rockyview General Hospital for their dedication. In living memory of Donald Sladek, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park.
