ANDERSON, Dorothy September 3, 1924 - June 18, 2011 Dorothy Anderson of Cochrane, Alberta passed away on June 18, 2011 after a short illness. Born in London, England, Dorothy came to Canada in 1947 to marry Andy Anderson. After first settling in Lethbridge where their four children were born, Andy and Dorothy fulfilled their dream of moving to Cochrane in 1959. They were both very involved in the community, developing the School Patrol program and organizing the "hootenannies" that were enjoyed by so many. Dorothy owned two businesses in Cochrane; she was the Editor/Owner of the Cochrane Oldtimer and a co-owner of The Fab-bric House. She served on the Cochrane Town Council and remained interested in politics her whole life. Dorothy was also involved in many senior's activities and programs. Dorothy was predeceased by her husband Andy in 1978 and by her grandson Scott in 2009. She is survived by her children Carolyn Molstad (Dave), Neil Anderson (Aileen), Jean Noel (Bernie) and Brian Anderson (Lynda), along with her grandchildren Lisa, Sarah, Michael, Megan and Caron. A gathering to celebrate Dorothy's life will be held at St. Andrew's United Church, 128 - 1 Street East, Cochrane, Alberta on Thursday, June 23, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. In memory of Dorothy donations may be made to Big Hill Lodge, 98 Carolina Drive, Cochrane, AB T4C 1X5.
