ANDERSON , Evelyn Lauretta (nee Frampton) 1925 - 2009 Evelyn passed away quietly at the age of 84 on December 14, 2009 at Rockyview Hospital in Calgary. Daughter of Arthur and Zella Frampton, Evelyn was born in southern Saskatchewan November 27, 1925. During the Great Depression, the family (including Evelyn's three brothers and one sister) moved to the interior of B.C. After graduating from high school at the age of seventeen, Evelyn had hopes to enter nurses training at the Vancouver General Hospital, but because of a shortage of teachers in the rural areas, her Mother was persuaded by the school district inspector to instead send her as a lone untrained (and very apprehensive) teacher to remote McMurphy, B.C., up the North Thompson River, accessible only by railway. The school was a small, poorly heated log cabin where she taught grades 1 to 9 for fourteen children. She later moved back to Saskatchewan with her family and at age twenty-two married Gordon Stadel. They had three children before moving to Manitoba. At the age of twenty-eight, now as a single parent, Evelyn returned to teaching as she struggled to provide for herself and her children. In 1966 Evelyn married Jack Anderson. In 1971, when the children had left home, Evelyn and Jack moved to Abbotsford, B.C. where they built their own home on a small one-acre farm. Evelyn studied accounting and made that her new occupation. Shortly after Jack's death in 1991, Evelyn retired to Calgary. Evelyn is survived by her much-loved extended family, including: a) Evelyn's brother Arnold Frampton and family near Pelly, Saskatchewan; b) Evelyn's children (and their spouses): Patricia Stadel (and Ken Priestley) of Pitt Meadows, B.C., Les (and Linda) Stadel of Calgary and Dan (and Broni) Anderson of Mississauga, Ontario; c) Evelyn's grandchildren (and spouses): Adam (and Susan), David, Kathryn (and Mick), Mike (and Tanya), Rick, Shannon (and Victor), Steven (and Brandi); d) Evelyn's eight great-grandchildren: Adrian, Dara, Elizabeth, Erik, Jonathon, Kayla, Robin and Thomas; and e) the families of Evelyn's other now-deceased brothers Lloyd, Munroe and sister Hazel. We want to extend our thanks and appreciation to the nursing staff at Carewest Glenmore and Rockyview Hospital, Calgary.
