Frances O'Lesky (nee Trudel) of Calgary, passed away on Thursday, July 26, 2012 at the age of 100 years. Frances was born in Waterbury, Connecticut. As a very young child the family moved to the Edmonton and Lac La Biche areas. Frances worked in Edmonton where she was an assistant to Dr. Gray. She met Michael and married him on January 2, 1939. Shortly after, they moved to Calgary where she raised her family. Frances loved children, and during her lifetime she looked after many children, as well as many foster children. Frances was fortunate to be 100 years old and attend the 100th Anniversary of the Calgary Stampede. Frances is survived by her children, Frances (Ivan), Grace (Gordon), David (Theresa), June and Joan (Arnold); nine grandchildren, Michael (Paula), John (Jen), Katherine (Ben), Sarah, Carol (Jay), Kevin (Sue), Brian, Jenny (Shayne) and Ross; twelve great-grandchildren, Evan, Anna, Isabella, Liam, Kate (Kyle), Jaxon, Wilson, Stuart, Kyla, George, Claudia and Emma; one great-great- grandson Gavin; her brother Philip (Jean); as well as numerous nieces, nephews and a foster son Peter (Johanna). Frances was predeceased by her husband Michael ; two sisters, Emma and Grace; five brothers, Albert, John, Jim, Richard and Frank; and son- in-law Arthur. Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers and Tributes at Canadian Martyrs Catholic Church (835 Northmount Drive N.W.) this evening, July 30, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Canadian Martyrs Catholic Church (835 Northmount Drive N.W.) on Tuesday, July 31, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. Graveside Service to follow at Queen's Park Cemetery. The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to the staff at the Brentwood Care Centre and especially those on the Hillhurst Unit, for the exceptional care they provided to our mother. In living memory of Frances and Michael O'Lesky, trees will be planted at Big Hill Springs Park, Cochrane.
