POERSCH, Ginu Leopold
December 29, 1917 - February 25, 2013
Ginu passed away at Silver Willow Lodge in Nanton, Alberta at the age of 95. Predeceased by his wife Gwyneth of 58 years in 2004. Also predeceased by his siblings Victor, Lilly, Thelma, Emma and Ansel all of Manitoba. Ginu is survived by daughters Beverley (Ken) Patton and Jean (John) Berger; grandchildren Wes (Jen Blades) Patton, Curtis (Christy) Patton, Brad (Tricia) Berger, Carla (Mike) Ransom, and Lori (Jed) Fletcher; great-grandchildren Gracie and Blair Berger, Reid and Maizie Ransom, Finn Fletcher, and Ella Patton. Ginu was born and raised in Brunkild, MB. He came west to help build the WWII training airport and runways at Vulcan. There he met his future wife. They both enlisted and served their country in England, where they married after the war. They returned to AB where he farmed in the Nanton and Parkland area until retirement in 1987. He loved music, dancing, golf, pool, hockey, baseball, cards, and competitive games. He will be fondly remembered for his quick wit, friendly smile, jokes and puzzles. A celebration of Ginu's life will be held at the Nanton Community Memorial Centre on Friday, March 1, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. Donations in his memory may be made to The Nanton Community Memorial Centre "Dance Floor" (Box 1248, Nanton, AB T0L 1R0) or Silver Willow Lodge (Box 40, Nanton, AB T0L 1R0).
