RUI, Glenn Orphie
March 30, 1924 - January 18, 2013
Glenn passed away peacefully at the age of 88 after a full life. Glenn was born to Norwegian parents in Neidpath, SK. He had a brother, Arnold and a sister, Gladys and is the last to pass away of the clan. They all went through the Great Depression and learned to be frugal and wise with resources. When Glenn graduated high school, he joined the Canadian Army in 1943. He went to Europe for the D-Day invasion and narrowly missed going to the front lines where few Canadian soldiers survived. When his tour ended in 1947, he graduated from the University of Saskatoon and spent his career in the brokerage and securities industry. While working in Winnipeg he met Lois Taylor in 1959, whom he soon married and called "the most important person in my life". She passed away in 2005. They had a happy, blessed and long marriage. Glenn is survived by son, Jeffrey Rui and granddaughter, Ariel Sophia Angel. Glenn will be fondly remembered as warm, sensitive, kind and a very proud Canadian. He will be deeply missed by his remaining family, friends and business associates. A Memorial Service will take place at a future date. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. In living memory of Glenn Rui, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park.
