NELSON, Isabel Mary
March 5, 1919 - October 28, 2012
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our dear mom, Isabel Mary Nelson, on Sunday evening, October 28, 2012 at the wonderful age of 93 years. She died peacefully, surrounded by her loved ones and is now with those who passed before her: husband Bob (1993), parents Elizabeth and William Green, sister Dorothy Standish, daughter-in-law Ildiko and infant grandson Timothy. Missing her always will be her sons, Bob (Evelyn), Ken, Steve (Laurel) and daughters, Teressa (Larry) Loeb and Shawna (David) Keller. She was Nan to 12 beloved grandchildren, Sandy, Cindy, Tammy, Lorri, Ken, Rick, Rob, Dan, Jeff, Lisa, Maxx and Lee and their families, including 17 great- grandchildren and one great-great-grandson. She also leaves behind her only brother George (Kathie) Green of Penticton and many nieces and nephews. Mom was a proud native Calgarian, always full of stories about growing up in Killarney. Like many children of the Depression, she left school at an early age to help her family. Working as a mother's helper on the Robinson farm in Springbank, she met our Dad and they married when he returned from the war, settling and raising their family in Rosscarrock. Her gifts were many: sewing, crocheting, upholstery, knitting, and ceramics, she loved anything creative. Her garden and flowers, her many pets, camping and frequent family gatherings brought her great pleasure through the years. Even in her 80's, she was a maker of endless pies, pastries and hobo breads which she loved to gift to her special people. With the onset of dementia and a failing body, Mom lived at Chinook Care Centre (Park Place) for the last few years where she was treated with kindness, love and dignity. Being well- groomed was important to her, and they always had her lipstick and jewellery in place before she started her day. We are so grateful to all those wonderful caregivers. She will be forever loved and missed by us all. A small private gathering has taken place and as per her wishes, we will celebrate her life with a large family get-together at a later date. If desired, donations can be made to the Salvation Army, 1731 - 29 Street S.W., Calgary T3C 1M6. Cremation provided by Simply Cremation and Funeral Services, 103, 3424 - 27 Street N.E., Calgary, Alberta T1Y 5E2
