GENEREUX, James "Jim"
October 7, 1959 – October 4, 2017
Jim Genereux passed away suddenly on October 4, 2017. Jim was a truly remarkable presence in every aspect of life from his family to his friends, his career to his neighbourhood, the hanger in Springbank and his hockey gang, his water and snow ski friends. He was born October 7, 1959 in Regina, Saskatchewan to Robert and Joyann Genereux. Jim went to University in Regina graduating with a degree in Geology and from there he pursued a specialized diploma in remote sensing in Nova Scotia. He was passionate about all things aviation and excelled brilliantly in his Geotechnical career which often took him on the road to faraway places such as South America, Kazakhstan, Egypt, Africa, Indonesia and points between, but his truly happy place was back on his acreage in Springbank with his family. Jim inspired and supported people at home and around the world with his incredible work ethic, energy, and vigor. However, the tremendous work he did in his career never overshadowed what he considered the most important thing, his family. He married the love of his life and best friend, Rhonda Lebell, celebrating 30 years this past summer, and was incredibly proud of their two children Ethan and Olivia, and he was the best buddy of Rocky the cat. His love for them was profound and his support and dedication constant. In between his many work travels, he was a reliable official for the sports his children participated in and often a willing participant with them, golfing with Ethan and skiing with Olivia. He found time over the years to take his family on trips and a year ago they spent a month in Bali. Jim touched many lives in his 57 years and will be greatly missed leaving to mourn his family, relatives, and numerous friends. A Memorial to celebrate the life of Jim will be held on Friday, October 13, at 2:00 p.m. at Eden Brook Funeral Home (17th Avenue and Lower Springbank Rd SW, Calgary). Flowers are graciously declined but should you wish you may make a donation to: Heart and Stoke Foundation of Canada. Condolences may be forwarded to the family by visiting www.edenbrookcemetery.ca. Arrangements entrusted to EDEN BROOK FUNERAL HOME AND RECEPTION CENTRE, 24223 Twp Rd 242, Calgary, AB, T3Z 3K2.
