I had the good fortune to get to know Jim during his two turns as Chairman for the TUC National Conservation dinner in Calgary. From the get-go he along with outstanding support from JR and the whole Shaw team took our dinner to a whole new level of professionalism, sponsor support and attendance. My condolences to the family on losing this vital and visionary man at such a young age. May you always feel his spirit.

Our sincerest condolences to the Shaw Family. May your close bonds and wealth of memories carry you through this difficult time. Jim's influence will continue as we all learned so many groundbreaking lessons under his leadership that are now part of the "extended Shaw Family" fabric. Indeed, so "many ways to Sunday", is a mantra Jim instilled. And on top of leading a S&P top 60 company, Jim opened his heart in so many small and big ways. I remember one time when I was struggling after leaving Shaw, he called me and helped me with strong words of encouragement. It meant so much to me that he took the time to do that. Thank you for everything Jim - you are a true trailblazer who brought many of us along for some amazing rides!

I am Jims first cousin and I live in Sarnia Ontario. I have many fond memories of my times spent with Jim through the years. I will forever remember one trip spending a few weeks in Edmonton when we were 17 at Christmas. Jim and I were cars guys. He loved his Chevies and I my Mustangs. I remember tooling around Edmonton in his Blue 1970 454 Chevelle. To say it was fast was an understatement. He seemed to like me driving as he got to watch the other cars out cruising. If you shifted the car to hard it would lock in second gear. You had to crawl underneath with vicegrips and wrestle with the shifter arms on the Muncie. I remember the hours of snowmobiling around Edmonton and skiing with the family at Rocky Mountain house. The time we took a load of grain to Banff and a snow storm hit us on the way back. It was always my dream that after I retire I would go visit him. I have been retired for 4 years but unfortunately never did make the trip. I will regret that forever. I Every time I spent with Jim was enjoyable. He was a kind caring human being. I will miss you Cuz.

Deepest condolences to everyone at SHAW, the family, and friends. Working with this company was the best 10 years of my career and for that I am thankful to such a great man for allowing me to be a part of his dream and to his marketing team for empowering me to be courageous and confident in my ideas. Jim Jr was a super guy always up for an adventure at the farm. He also had a love for animals, never thought he would get hit by a bull that his dad raised...lol...and he never did...Bryce nicknamed everyone...so from Bomber may you rest in peace...and my prayers are with the family...and especially to JR and Carol....its tough to have to bury a child. But for better or for worse...Jim Jr lived his life on his grounds, which is more than most can say...
