It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Jean McDonald. Predeceased by her husband Gerry, Jean leaves behind her son Ken, daughter-in-law Dina; granddaughters, Alicia and Erica; cousins, Ken, Cathy, and Barb; sisters-in-law, Norma and Lina, and many many close friends. Jean passed away peacefully the morning of Friday, April 27, 2012 in her home of 40 years, surrounded by her loved ones. With Welsh and Scottish heritage, Jean was born and raised in the Eau Claire district of Calgary attending McDougall School and then attending Central Collegiate Institute which she affectionately referred to as Calgary's "Collection of Idiots". Married February 11, 1941 to Gerry McDonald, she and Gerry set out for a world of adventure. Travelling the countryside on a motorcycle; living in Halifax during the war; starting the Crescent Taxi in North Hill Calgary; and converting one of Calgary's Street Cars for a cabin get-away in Priddis, to name a few. As a long-standing member of the ANAF and Royal Canadian Legion, Jean joined her many friends for shuffle board, bus trips, casino runs, and more recently as a proud member of the Old Bastarettes. In her last few months, Jean shared countless stories, plenty of laughter and tales of adventures with her family and friends. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Royal Canadian Legion, No. 284 (606 - 38 Avenue N.E.) on Saturday, May 19, 2012 from 1:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
