BASISTYJ, John
July 12, 1921 - February 6, 2013
John Basistyj of Calgary passed away on Wednesday, February 6, 2013 at the age of 91 years. John was born in Rosochach, Ukraine and immigrated to Canada in the late forties. He worked for CP Rail in the Ogden Shops until his retirement. John is survived by his nephew David Quon in Calgary and nieces and nephews in Alberta and Rosochach, Ukraine and his good friends, Bill and Darka Plischka. He was predeceased by his wife Maria in Calgary and brothers and sisters of Rosochach, Ukraine. Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers at St. Vladimir's Ukrainian Orthodox Church (402 Meredith Road N.E.) on Sunday, February 10, 2013 at 7:00 p.m. A Requiem Service will be held at St. Vladimir's Ukrainian Orthodox Church (402 Meredith Road N.E.) on Monday, February 11, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. Graveside Service to follow at Queen's Park Cemetery. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. In living memory of John Basistyj, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park.
