BATEMAN _ John Robert Geoffrey Bob passed away on Wednesday, August 31, 2005 at home after a long, difficult struggle with myeloma and stenosis. Bob was born in Calgary on August 10, 1920 and, with the exception of the war years, lived his life in Calgary. He became a C.A. in 1953 and practiced in Calgary. He was a fifty-year member of King George Masonic Lodge; a longtime member of Al Azhar Shriners, riding for thirty years in the Motorcycle Patrol; and was a member of the Royal Order of Jesters. He is survived by his loving wife and soulmate, Olga (Panowyk) of Toronto; and many relations and in-laws in AB, BC, ON and Ireland as well as many wonderful friends. Bob was predeceased by his former wife Estelle (White); his father Geoffrey of County Cork; mother Dorothy of Jumping Pound, AB; stepmother Jessie Jamieson of Morleyville; great- grandparents James and Jessie Potts, early Morleyville settlers; grandparents John and Jessie Bateman, early Jumping Pound settlers, and John and Esther of County Cork. Bob unselfishly gave so much of himself to help so many throughout his lifetime. We all have lost someone very special. Thanks to the Tom Baker Cancer Centre and all the wonderful medical people who did so much to alleviate his problems, and to his home care nurses who were angels. At Bob's request, there will be no Funeral Service. To all of his old friends he wished to say "Aloha". HERITAGE FAMILY FUNERAL SERVICES "Heritage Funeral Home" Telephone: 299-0100.
