John McLEOD Obituary

Published by Calgary Herald on Jan. 15, 2013.

McLEOD, John Malcolm
April 24, 1930 - January 11, 2013
Our beloved brother and uncle, John Malcolm McLeod, passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side on Friday, January 11, 2013 at the age of 82. He will be forever remembered and loved by his sisters May, Aggie, Doris, Mary; brothers Jug and Kenny; numerous nieces and nephews and his childhood buddy Ray Luft. A special thanks to his nieces, Thyra and Donna who were always there for him and great-nephew, Trent for caring for him during his illness. He was predeceased by his mother Elizabeth and father Alexander and sisters Margaret, Flo, Jean and Bella. John was a very kind and loving man who always had time for his family. He was very special to his many sisters. He was a sheet metal worker, a trade he loved and at which he was skilled. John also had a passion for planes all his life and had his pilot's license. He enjoyed puttering around out in the yard and feeding the robins. John's caring ways will be missed very much. Dearest Johnny we will love you forever.
The Family extends a special thank you to Dr. Stewart and Unit 57 at the Tom Baker. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alberta Cancer Foundation, c/o Tom Baker Cancer Centre, 1331 - 29 Street N.W., Calgary, AB T2N 4N2. A Funeral Service will be held at FOSTER'S GARDEN CHAPEL, 3220 - 4 Street N.W., Calgary (across from Queen's Park Cemetery) on Thursday, January 17, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. Friends and family welcome. We are neighbors a couple houses away & I have 2 memories of John to share. One day he helped us unlock a stuck door so my kids could do their job of walking a neighbor's dog (this was a few blocks away but he happily said no problem I'll see what I can do to help). And John's love of children and the joy of growing up in a big family was apparent when he told us that watching our many kids playing out in the front street always made his day and made him smile as he watched from the front window of his house. From our meeting John in the crescent during the years, he always struck us as a very gentle and kind hearted man. We are sorry for your loss. The Lavoie Family

My thoughts and prayers are with you in your time of grief. I met John through horse racing several years ago. John was a very kind individual and the world was a better place from him being in it. May your warm memories bring you comfort.
