CROOKS, Kenneth (Ken) James

Kenneth (Ken) James Crooks, beloved husband of Sylvia of Calgary, passed away on Tuesday, November 27, 2012 at the age of 82 years. Born in London, England on February 27, 1930, he immigrated to Canada at the age of 23 and passionately embraced the Canadian way of life. Ken lived many years in St. Albert and moved to Calgary in 1984. He worked for Imperial Oil for twenty-six years and retired in 1986 when he enjoyed an active retirement. Ken was known for his optimism, witty sense of humour, and enjoyed people from all walks of life. He was actively involved with the Liberal party and was president of three Liberal constituencies. He was a voracious reader, enjoyed friends, good food and music, particularly blues and jazz. Ken is survived by his wife Sylvia, the love of his life, and his children Vincent Crooks, Margolee Horn, Tracee (Ken) Vickerman, Lauren Crooks, Scott Marshall, and Liane (Chuck) Wittmann; nine grandchildren, Ryan (Dana), Kelsey, Adam, Dillon, Emily, Jenine, Jessica, Samara and Marshall; one great- granddaughter Bari; sister Alannah (Grant) LaMothe; brother Brian Crooks; and many friends. Ken was predeceased by his parents Ivy Merrell and Reuben Crooks. Ken was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend to all. A Celebration of Ken's Life will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY'S Fish Creek Chapel (14441 Bannister Road S.E.) on Tuesday, December 4, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
