Lana Spreeman, beloved mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family and friends, on Tuesday, November 29, 2016 at the age of 61 years. Lana was a 5 time Paralympian ('80, '84, '88, '92 and '94), winning 13 medals for Canada in downhill skiing events. It was 10 years ago that she signed up for her first of 3 Iron Man Canada races. Lana owned and operated two massage therapy clinics. There, like every other part of her life, she had a huge impact on her many clients. Lana was fun- loving, quick to laugh at herself, determined, driven, competitive, a helper, generous, caring, and big-hearted. Her level of determination never left her and she remained strong during her 16 month battle with brain cancer. Lana leaves behind her son Dustin and his wife Talia; her grandchildren Jaxson and Chayse; her brothers Ken (Gwen), Doug (Grace), Lauren (Angie); and a large host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Lana was predeceased by her parents Elmer and Alice Spreeman. A Celebration of Lana's Life will take place at First Assembly Pentecostal Church (6031 Elbow Drive S.W., Calgary, AB) on Wednesday, December 21, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. Condolences may be forwarded through In lieu of flowers, donations in Lana's memory may be made to the Paralympic Foundation of Canada, 85 Plymouth Street, Suite 100, Ottawa, ON, K1S 3E2. In living memory of Lana Spreeman, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park.
