BERRETH, Leo Karl
August 15, 1923 - October 19, 2016
Leo passed away peacefully October 19, 2016 at the age of 93 years. Leo was born and raised on the family farm in Bircham, Alberta. He married Helen Eunice Reed on January 8, 1944. Leo joined the Canadian Army in 1942 - 1945. He appreciated and had great experiences, especially in the motor pool. After discharge Leo and Eunice started their own farm east of Beiseker. Here they raised their 6 children. Leo was employed with the KIBA Seed Cleaning Plant for 29 years. After selling their farm they lived in Beiseker, Airdrie and finally Olds where Leo passed away at home due to failing health. Leo will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 72 years, Helen Eunice; daughters Elaine (Wayne) Garrett, Darlene Forrester, Joyce Forster, Cherylanne (David) Johnson; sons Peter (Goldie), Robert; proud grandfather and great-grandfather to Sandi and Lyle, Annette and Doug (Brandon, Stephanie), Vincent, Tracy (Dalton, Darby), Shawna, Shane (Joshua, Cole, Owen), Pete and Chelsea (Noah, Adam), Rebecca and Eric (Sierra, Eric Jr, Jesyca), Bonnie and Ben (Madeline, Benjamin), Jamie and Danielle (Ethan, Madison, Maverick); sister Vera Garrett; brother Paul (Val) Berreth; sister-in-law Miriam Berreth; in-laws Marc Reed, Watson (Grace) Reed, Beth (Willis) Creighton. He was predeceased by his parents; brother Ivan Berreth; sister Gladys Strohschein and sons- in-law Wayne Forrester and Bob Forster. Interment will be held Friday, October 28, 2016 at 1 p.m. in the Zion Cemetery (east of Beiseker) followed by a Celebration of Leo's Life at the Beiseker Community Hall. A memory is a beautiful gift. In lieu of flowers, memorial tributes may be made directly to the Alberta Heart & Stroke Foundation or the Alberta Cancer Foundation. Great memories at Pioneer Acres with Leo and Eunice. So sorry to hear of his passing. It is hard to feel bad about having a long and wonderful life with many friends and family. Rest in peace my good friend.
