MAUNIER, Leonard David
November 7, 1947 - January 24, 2013
It is with sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved husband and father, Len, at the age of 65 at the Chinook Hospice at Calgary, AB. Len will be remembered by Laureen, his wife of twenty-two years; his sons, Ryan (Gabrielle), Sean, Matthew, and Calum, all of Calgary. He is also survived by his siblings, Ron (Val) and Eleanor. He was predeceased by his parents, George and Elsie. Len will be missed by his many extended family members, friends, and former colleagues from Chevron where he had a long career in Engineering Operations and Information Technology. He always had a joke to share and an endearing smile, even up until his last days. Len was born in Revelstoke, B.C. and grew up in Leduc, AB. He attended NAIT upon completing high school in Leduc before starting his career with Chevron. After a number of years, Len returned to school at the University of Calgary to complete a B.Sc. in Computer Science which transitioned him into Chevron's Information Technology Department in Calgary where he held various positions of increasing responsibility. Len's career was cut short when he became ill with cancer. A Memorial Mass will be held at Holy Name Catholic Church (2223 - 34 Street S.W.) on Wednesday, January 30, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. A reception for friends and family will follow in the church hall. The family would like to thank all of the people who have helped care for Len at Foothills Medical Centre, Bethany Calgary, and most recently Chinook Hospice. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Calgary Health Trust, for FMC, Unit 111, 800, 11012 Macleod Trail S.E., Calgary, AB, T2J 6A5 (www.calgaryhealthtrust.ca). Condolences may be forwarded to the family by visiting www.edenbrookcemetery.ca. Arrangements entrusted to EDEN BROOK FUNERAL HOME and RECEPTION CENTRE, 24223 Township Road 242, Calgary, AB (17 Avenue S.W. and Lower Springbank Road).
