Lionel of Calgary, AB passed away after a brief illness on June 25, 2013 at the age of 90 years. Born in Chapleau, ON and worked for the railway and he also served in the Army Transportation Corps in Holland in WWII. When he returned he got married and moved to Sudbury, ON to work for the railway. Lionel moved west to Calgary in 1950 and began working for Calgary Transit until he retired in 1983. He married Gladys in 1952, and led an active life with his family. He enjoyed his main hobby, being a "jack of all trades" and helping others, this included welding trailer hitches and building a motor-home from a 1947 Cadillac Hearse, which he bought for a dollar. After his retirement he enjoyed traveling, hiking and skiing with the Calgary Seniors Outdoor Club. Lionel is survived by daughters Ruth (John Tenbrink), Ina (Keith) Hamilton, Joan (Antonio Pagnotta); and his grandchildren, Garrett Hamilton, Andrew Hamilton, Janet Pagnotta and Carmen Pagnotta. He was predeceased by wives Beatrice Elaine (nee Perrault) in 1950 and Gladys Eleanor (nee McCaw) in 1984. Memorial Service will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY'S Chapel of the Bells (2720 Centre Street North) today, June 28, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. In living memory of Lionel Robinson, a tree will be planted at Big Hill Springs Park, Cochrane.
