GRECO, Maria (nee Mosca)
March 31, 1928 - November 13, 2012
It is with sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our mother Maria Greco on Tuesday, November 13, 2012 at the age of 84 years. Maria was born was in San Giovanni in Fiore, Italy on March 31, 1928 to Antonia and Pasquale Mosca. Maria immigrated to Canada in 1956 to join her husband and begin a new life. Family was the center of her life and everyone was family to her. She was a model daughter, sister, wife, mother, nonna, aunt and friend. Maria enjoyed trips back to Italy, long walks with friends and her fitness classes. She will always be remembered for her kind nature and loving heart. Maria is survived by sons, Joe (Nina), Frank (Susie), John (Ines); and daughter Teresa (Lorenzo Santillo); son-in- law John Durante; seventeen grandchildren; brothers, Carmine (Maria), Salvatore (Fifina), Francesco (Maria), Giuseppe (Rosa), Antonio (Rina) and Giovanni (Loredana); sisters Teresa (Michele Belcastro), Silvana (Luigi Sciarotta); sisters-in-law Caterina Mosca and Filomena Nicastro; and numerous nieces and nephews. Maria was predeceased by her husband Pasquale (2011); son Anthony (2008); daughter Virginia (2005) and brother Saverio (1999). Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers and Tributes at St. Luke's Catholic Church (corner of Northmount Drive and Northland Drive N.W.), on Monday, November 19, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Luke's Catholic Church (corner of Northmount Drive and Northland Drive N.W.) on Tuesday, November 20, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. Graveside Service to follow at Queen's Park Mausoleum. Condolences may be forwarded through A heartfelt thank you to her caregivers, Adelaida Lopez and Adela Avenido for all of their loving care and compassion. The family would also like to extend a thank you to Dr. David Hogan and Joan Matthews. In living memory of Maria Greco, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park.
